The Journey of a Vision

Honor the Honorable

Many of us are teens. It’s the time where most of us rebel. It’s the time that we discover new things and it’s where the bulk of our adventures in life begin. Though we enter this realm with lots of possibilities, we become limited. Our capabilities become limited. Mainly due to our Parents.

They are the ones who gives us curfews. They are the ones who gives us our allowances. They are the ones who don’t allow us to go out with friends. They are the ones who instill rules and regulations to our teenage life.

I’m not saying they’re all bad and stuff. They are just doing that for our sake, because they love us. However, at some point in time, they forget that they were teens once.

Right now, I’m going to present to you something that is kind of controversial. Something that may infuriate some and maybe inspire others. However, this is my stand and this is my opinion. It’s up to you whether to believe in it or not.

We’ll look at things as a business. You see parents see their kids as something like investments. They want something in return, to see you successful in life or maybe to some shallow parents, the return that they want is someone to provide for their retirement.

Let me explain.

Let’s say you are an investment and your parents are investors. They invest their time in you and resources and energy. Let’s say in total they invest a million dollar in you because they see a huge potential in the future. They saw that investing on you would give a turnover of 10x the capital that was invested.

Since they are investing so much on you, the least thing that you can do is keep yourself ‘beautiful’ in the eyes of the investors. So if you do something bad or make a bad decision, they get infuriated because they are seeing losses in their investments. However, if you keep showing up good results and profits, they’ll invest even more right?

So it goes something like that.

That’s why the easiest and most plausible way to gain our freedom is to prove to our parents that their investments will never be lost. If we show them that we are responsible enough in our own lives, If we show them that we know what is right or wrong, if we show them that we have character and principles in life, they will release their chains of rule and we gain our freedom.

Our parents love us and we got to honor them. Give honor where honor is due. In this case give them their expected returns from the investments that they are making on you. If you want more capital in terms of investments, prove yourself to be a credible and profitable business.
